The increased demand over the past decade for gastrointestinal endoscopy, particularly colonoscopy, has led to a greater use of open access scheduling models in gastroenterology practices. Open-access procedures help to increase the overall capacity of a gastroenterology practice. Eliminating pre-procedure office visits in selected patients provides an efficient means to meet the growing need for colorectal cancer screening and possibly other endoscopic services, such as screening for Barrett's esophagus.
Open Access Endoscopy offers the medical community and their patients, rapid access to routine gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures without prior consultation with a gastroenterologist.
Dr Bhandari and Gastroenterology & Nutritional Medical Services (GNMS) offers an efficient, accessible Open Access Endoscopy service. Patients require a letter of referral from their General Practitioner or Specialist and must be physically fit with no or few medical complaints, to be suitable for Open Access Endoscopy. Colonoscopy with polypectomy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy are the procedures performed on an ‘Open Access’ basis.
GNMS is committed to making colon cancer screening more convenient in addition to providing safe, effective outpatient colon cancer screening in a comfortable environment.
